The Cornell Animation Club Officers have been working very hard to prepare for this upcoming semester! We have a lot of wonderful meetings planned including topics such as modeling and rendering in Blender and gesture drawing! Please keep a look out for future meeting dates and times! Feel free to reach out to our officers for more information!
Hello, all! We are meeting tonight in Hollister 314 at 7 pm. We are going to be animating the clay models we created last week! Hope to see you all there!
Last meeting, we designed the outline of our ideas for the claymation and built the clay models for the main character and props. Here are a couple of pictures of the process.
Sorry, we haven't been keeping up the blog lately. Last meeting we practiced gesture drawings. I sincerely recommend practicing at home if you are interested in improving your figure drawings. We used this website to practice. Remember it's important to capture the feel of the gesture, not to try and create a photograph of the model in 30 seconds. Keep on sketching!
Last Monday, we had our first Animation Club meeting! We introduced the club to the resources offered and began with an icebreaker where we introduced everyone and had everyone contribute to this collaborative chalk art. Today, Monday 13th, we will be learning about character design. Hope to see you all there!
It's been a great year with you guys, and probably one of the absolute best. In the past month, here's what we've been up to:
4/14 orthographic art
We designed our ideal rooms in the orthographic / isometric art style! Thanks Christine for leading this :)
4/21 landscape design
Led by Kyle!
4/28 chalk stopmotion
Our first ever chalk night, this theme received a lot of praise from all our members who attended! I'm personally really proud of everyone.
5/5 pixel art, officer elections
We used an online pixel program to turn our drawings into pixel animations.

Hey everybody! Welcome back to those of you who left Ithaca for Spring Break!
In the last few weeks, we have had Character Design, Plant Week, and Asciimation nights, and had a club viewing of Zootopia.
Moving forward, we have an open poll for themes. Please fill it out here if you'd like to have a say in the weekly themes!
In the meantime, check out some creations from club members for Plant Week and Asciimation night:
Greetings to all our new members! We've had a great first two meetings and a successful spring Clubfest.
At our welcome night on Feb 11th, we introduced our new members to the club, discussed our plan for the semester, and each member took turns contributing to this great mural:
During this meeting, we discussed our plans for the next few dates, and took suggestions for later meetings. Here is the current plan!
As the poster linked above mentions, we met on the 18th for a fun "Introduction to Maya" demo. If you missed that tutorial, there are some lessons here on our website, and as Cornell students we also have access to "lynda.com"- just use your Cornell email to sign in, and you can get access to all sorts of great lessons for modeling in Maya, as well as in other software.
In addition to the next two weekly Thursday meetings ("Character Design" and "Plant Night"), we will have a movie showing this Friday to help everyone take a break from prelims and studying! Vote here for the choice of movie if you haven't already.
The showing will be 7pm Friday Feb 26 in Olin 165- hope to see you there!
